Questa settimana sono tornata a disegnare in piazza San Marco, dove si trova un'altra costruzione che da tempo avevo in animo di ritrarre: il cosiddetto "Casino della Livia" ispirato dall'architettura di Bernardo Buontalenti anche se in realtà realizzato dal meno noto architetto Bernardo Fallani nel 1775.
Il nome deriva dal fatto che, dopo essere stata sede di un ufficio granducale, la palazzina diventò la residenza dell'attrice Livia Malfatti Raimondi, amica del granduca Pietro Leopoldo.
Alla base del muro alla destra dell'edificio, sulla stessa panca di via dove mi trovavo la settimana scorsa mentre dipingevo la facciata di San Marco, c'era un senzatetto con intorno a sé il suo corredo di borse e sacchetti, anche lui come me seduto in silenzio ad osservare la piazza.
This week I came back to sketch in Piazza San Marco, where there is another building that I have had in mind to portrait for a long time: the so-called "Casino della Livia", inspired by the architecture of Bernardo Buontalenti, even if it was actually built by the less known architect Bernardo Fallani in 1775.
The name derives from the fact that, after being the seat of an office of the Grand Duchy, the small palace became the home of the actress Livia Malfatti Raimondi, friend of the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo.
At the foot of the wall on the right of the building, on the same panca di via where I sat last week while I was painting the façade of San Marco, there was a homeless with his equipment of bags and shoppers around him, just like me sitting in silence, observing the square.
